About Forgotten Flora
Forgotton Flora is an environmental consulting and education service founded by Charlotte Lorick. Charlotte specializes in field botany, landscape ecology, ecological restoration and conservation land stewardship. She has worked for over a decade exploring human relationships with the land, developing conservation research and educational programs, and implementing regenerative land stewardship strategies.
Charlotte launched Forgotten Flora to support land stewards to conserve native biodiversity and resilient ecosystems, whether in a small backyard, large estate, or community landscape. At Forgotten Flora, we believe that plants can tell us a lot about the history of land and can also help guide our future land stewardship plans. Our services range from botanical assessments to developing full scale master land stewardship plans that emphasize biodiversity conservation and the need to consider all species, from the bold and showy to the humble and forgotten and everything in between.

About Charlotte
Charlotte Lorick has been on a mission to conserve biodiversity and support resilient ecosystems through wholistic and regenerative land stewardship practices. She has been dubbed a “plant whisperer”, “The Lorax” for her contagious enthusiasm for plants and dedication to native plant conservation.
Through her career in field botany, landscape ecology, ecological restoration and conservation land stewardship, she has worked for over a decade exploring human relationships with the land, developing conservation research and educational programs, and implementing regenerative land stewardship strategies.
Charlotte has a special knack for observation and discovery – from finding a globally rare plant community hiding in an ignored swamp thought worthless, to a disjunct northern population of an endangered species only known from a handful of populations in the Southern Appalachians - she helps landowners and communities to uncover the special native biodiversity already present on their land.
Informed by a lifetime of practice reading the landscape and working with local ecology, Charlotte creates bespoke land stewardship designs and plans --incorporating each site’s unique natural gems into conservation plans. Prioritizing exploration and understanding before radical restoration efforts, Charlotte promotes a new approach that pushes back at the standard ‘blank slate,’ chemical dependent strategy for grassland management, to make the most of her clients’ landscape in an ecologically informed way.
